Any individual or volunteer group that has demonstrated commitment and dedication to our State through significant volunteer service can be nominated. All nominations must represent outstanding volunteer service during 2010 (or lifetime nomination). The nominated service must benefit Maryland citizens and have a positive influence that addresses a community problem or enhances the quality of life in Maryland. For individual nominations, the nominated service must be performed outside the context of a nominees’ paid employment and all organizations or groups must have been operational for two years to be eligible to be nominated. In early April, nominations were received by a panel of 30 community leaders, volunteers, and State staff from across the State.
